Big Week of Great Performances at Meets

It was a big week for the Valley Royals, with the Golden Ears Invitational for our JDS and the Eastern Valley Championships for our high school athletes.

Our JDs had a great meet in Maple Ridge, with a very strong turnout to represent our club. Our kids really liked the great trophies and did their part in raking them in. A good time was had by all and a big well done to all the parents and athletes who participated. Honorable mentions go out to Emmett Redekop, Harveer Nigah, Josiah Boulter, Logan Sutherland, Damien Brown and Jessie Booth, who all won their respective events on the boys side; and to Eloise Mckerow, Violet Languard, Leah Tinsley, Chloe Wellington, and Deah Kondolay who won their events on the girls side.

The Valley Royals distance group made a definitive statement at the Eastern Valley Track and Field Championship. It was very clear to all who watched that our athletes are really coming into their own. Zoe Unger came through with more personal bests and ground breaking races to win the 800m, 1500m and 3000m events and was named outstanding Junior Girl of the meet. Riley Simmonds had big races and personal bests on his way to winning the 800m 1500m and 3000m and was named outstanding grade 8 boy of the meet. Sam May won both the 3000m and 1500m steeplechase events in the Junior Boys division and Maggie Epp and Adrianna Buitelaar finished first and second in both the 800m and 1500m events in the grade 8 girls. Mark Molina ran an impressive 2:00.8 to win the junior boys 800m. Most of our athletes finished strongly and are looking forward to making an impact at the provincial level in the BC High School Championships in three weeks time.
A big shout out goes to our athletes and the parents that support them. Well done Royals. – Coach Scott
