Help Athletes in India

Got any kind of athletic clothes, shoes, spikes or light sports jacket that you’ve outgrown?
Jag Bath is flying to India on December 8th and she would love to take your athletic hand-me-downs to give to children in need at a Track & Field club there.
If you have athletic items that you can give, call/text Jag at (604) 751-1265 to arrange to drop them off at her house. Thanks for helping!

Help Provide Home-Town Hospitality at Canadian XC Championships Nov. 30th

Calling all Volunteers for an Exciting Opportunity! The Valley Royals have been invited to serve at the Canadian Cross-Country Championships in Clearbrook Park on November 30, 2019. The club will provide food services for the Volunteers and Officials working at this national-level meet happening right here in Abbotsford! This is a great opportunity to see the top cross country athletes in the nation compete and show our home-town hospitality to the people putting on this event.

We have been asked to make and deliver Chili and Buns to the Officials & Volunteers for lunch as well as some snacks and beverages throughout the day. Including feeding our own club volunteers, we are preparing for approximately 100 people. How can you help? We need a Food Service Team to work together to cover these simple but important tasks:

  • 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM Lunch Prep & Serve Team to meet at the Warming House to cut & butter buns and package the chili into single-serving containers (labeling vegetarian and mild versions) and deliver the containers hot to Clearbrook Park for lunch time distribution
  • 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Hospitality Team at Clearbrook Park to deliver snacks/beverages to the volunteers and officials as they are working throughout the day and deliver the hot lunch. (Let Debbie know if you can serve in the morning, afternoon or all day)

High school athletes and families are invited to Navigating University Recruitment – an event co-hosted by Streamline Athletes & BC Athletics to arm aspiring collegiate athletes with the info needed to make the best university decisions possible.

They’ll be discussing university recruitment and the collegiate track and field landscape. They’ll also be joined by a panel of former student-athletes (now elite professionals) who will be chatting about their own journeys from high school, through university, to today!

The event will feature a demo of the newest version of Streamline Athletes, so that athletes and families know how to best use this online tool to support their recruitment.

Trevor Wight Named Head Coach of the Valley Royals

Dear Royals Family,

After taking a sabbatical from coaching for most of 2019, I have recently taken on the role of head coach of the Valley Royals.   Put simply, my job is to get the many moving parts of club working together to ensure that every athlete, regardless of age or ability, receives the best possible instruction and has the best possible experience while training and competing.  More than this, my goal, and our goal as a coaching staff is to instill in our athletes what we hope will be a life-long love of the sport, of the process of training, and of physical activity.

As a long-time member of the Royals, I am acutely aware of our club’s long, rich and successful history within our city.   I am both honoured and humbled to be asked to lead.  I look forward to connecting and working with all of you in the coming months to ensure that we can continue to build on our successes and overcome our challenges.

Yours in Sport, Trevor Wight, Head Coach and Power/Speed Coach, Valley Royals Track and Field Club
