Our Royals athletes and families did us proud at this weekend’s BC High School Cross Country Championships. Competing against the best runners in the province our athletes rose to the occasion and displayed tonnes of heart on the way to some outstanding performances.
Adrianna Buitelaar took the pace out hard from the start to lead a field of almost 300 runners and claim her first BC High School Cross Country title in the Junior Girls race.
Riley Simmonds also ran an outstanding race in the Junior Boys division to capture the silver medal against an extremely talented field, including Canadian 2k record holder Arjun Sandhu.
Miles Graham had a fine race in the Senior Boys Single A division to claim the Bronze Medal – an outstanding accomplishment for this young man.
William Steiger stepped up his game with a first-rate 26th place finish in the Junior Boys to lead his MEI team to a Silver Medal performance, and Arata Nakanishi and Samuel Rasquinha also moved to a new level with an outstanding 16th place and 68th place in the senior boys AAA race.
A big congratulations to all of our athletes who earned the right to compete this weekend you should all be proud of your accomplishments. – Coach Scott
