Excellent Results at White Rock Meet

Shout out to all the Royals athletes who attended the “Just This Once” meet in White Rock on Saturday. Several JDs performed very well both on the track and on the field.

Special congrats to Evan Booth for his personal best in the 200m, with a time of 25.23. Will Van Schagen dropped a second off his personal best in the 400m hurdles, running a time of 56.90, over a full second faster that the Team BC qualification standard for the Legion Nationals later this summer. And a huge, huge congrats to Judy Summers for smashing the BC record in the women’s 55-59 300m hurdles. Judy’s time was 60.64, several seconds faster that the old record.

Well done, Judy and well done Royals.

A Great Home Track Meet!

A big congratulations to all our Royals Athletes who participated in our Jennifer Rogers Swan Memorial meet this past weekend at Jane and Gerry Swan field. A big thank you goes out to all our great volunteers and BC Athletics officials for doing such a great job running the meet for our young athletes and youth.

I just wanted to say how proud I am to be a part of the Valley Royals Track and Field Club.   Besides the numerous outstanding performances by all of our new and veteran athletes over the past couple of days, the Jen Swan meet was a great example of teamwork, sportsmanship, positivity and volunteerism.     Thank you to all of you who helped make this meet not only possible but a huge success.  I am looking forward to seeing our athletes continue to push their limits (and have fun in the process) over the rest of the 2023 season.   Well done, team.    – Coach Trevor

Our athletes had a great weekend and posted some great results including many personal best performances. Sam May, Riley Simmonds, and Jonah Dyck started the day with some first rate running in the Steeplechase. Sam May’s 6:15.10 was seven seconds under National funding standard and gets him one step closer to his goal of representing BC at Nationals. Riley was just off standard and also will be one to watch for making the Provincial Team. Will Van Schagen posted an outstanding run in the 400m hurdles to attain national funding standard with a 57.77 second personal best performance and Miles Graham, Mack Lascelle, Sam Rasquinha, Jonah Kassel, and Oliver and Freddie Teer ran strongly in the 800m. Mack Lascelle recorded a 5 second personal best of 2:00.67. Arie Wassenaar ran strongly in the 1500m.

On our women’s side Maggie Epp and Adrianna Buitelaar posted fantastic performances in the 1200m event. Maggie posted a personal best 3:45.93 just off funding standard and Adrianna’s 3:39.06 gives her a second standard for the season. Both of these young women are firmly placing themselves among the best in the country at the U16 level. Zoe Unger ran a strong 10:49.15 in the 3000m event.

Mark Molina posted a sizzling personal best performance of 1:55.52 in the 800m this past weekend at the Portland Invitational meet. Great early season performance about half a second from National Standard.

A big congratulations to all these athletes and the families who support them for their hard work and dedication are really paying off. And to Mark, well done! – Coach Scott
